Academic Year Legal Internships

The LCAC invites law students to apply for full- or part-time legal internships during the academic year.

Legal interns work closely with LCAC staff members. Tasks that legal interns may perform include:

  • conducting legal research, writing legal memoranda, and drafting pleadings;

  • reviewing discovery and other evidence;

  • obtaining records through state and federal public records laws and analyzing them;

  • collecting data that inform the LCAC’s litigation;

  • helping prepare for and attending court proceedings; and

  • visiting clients.

Applicants should send a cover letter, resume, writing sample, and list of two references to Linda Cortez, at lcortez@thejusticecenter.org, with the subject line “Academic Year Legal Intern Application.” In their cover letter, applicants should state the number of hours per week and the dates they are available to work at the LCAC.

This position is unfunded, but the LCAC pays for any business-related travel expenses. Applicants may seek academic credit or pro bono service hours from their law schools.
